When you spoke on Google Chat before, you could not trace whether the recipient had received your message or not. But a new solution and fix have been launched recently. Users will now be able to see the time when their Google Chat direct messages have been sent. This will be available only on active chat Windows for one-on-one conversations. This feature will run on Android, iOS, and the web.
The users can see the avatar of the person they’re chatting with to the right of the last message they’ve seen. Notifications can be seen see as soon as the recipient reads it which will be informed to the sender via notification.
These Read receipts functions will however not be used in group messages or Rooms. This feature has been extended from the older classic Google Hangouts to Google Chat for a more user-friendly application.
Read receipts will be available to all G-suite customers but not before October 5. There will be no Admin control for this feature according to the data available on the internet and for the end-users: There is no end-user setting for this feature.
Thus this auto Read receipts feature offered by Google for the Chat application will be helpful for the users, but they cannot be customized as functions according to the user’s benefit. Google must take cognizance of this from the next update.
