Realme is set to unveil its latest smartphone series, the Realme 12 Pro, in India today, marking a significant leap in smartphone photography. The smartphone comprises Relame 12 Pro and Realme 12 Pro+, touted as a “Portrait Master,” the series aims to redefine user experiences with its periscope zoom camera, boldly challenging the iPhone 15 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.

The launch event will begin at 12 pm today, and the event will be live-streamed on the company’s YouTube and other social media channels. Here’s an in-depth look at what makes the Realme 12 Pro series a potential game-changer.

Realme 12 Pro Series: A Portrait Master

The standout feature of the Realme 12 Pro series is undoubtedly its periscope zoom camera, which is equipped with a robust 64MP OmniVision OV64B sensor. Realme asserts that this sensor, with its substantial 1/2-inch size, surpasses the competition. Compared to the 3x zoom cameras in the iPhone 15 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, the Realme 12 Pro+ sensor is over 2.6 times larger, allowing it to capture 1.8 times more light.

This significant advantage translates into an unparalleled capability to maintain exceptional detail, even with substantial cropping. While the launch event showcased impressive comparison images, the true evaluation of its performance will be reserved for hands-on experiences in the future.

What to Expect in Realme 12 Pro Series

The Realme 12 Pro series promises a blend of style and functionality. The design includes a curved display with narrow bezels, a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera, and a distinctive circular camera module on the back. The leather finish and metallic strap in the middle add a touch of sophistication. Available in Blue and Cream color options, the phone is set to make a statement.

Display: The series is expected to feature a 6.7-inch FHD+ curved AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, ensuring a smooth visual experience.

Processor: The Realme 12 Pro+ is anticipated to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, while the standard Pro might feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset.

RAM and Storage: With a potential 16GB RAM and up to 1TB storage, the phones aim to provide ample power and storage options, likely complemented by memory expansion support.

Camera Setup: The Pro+ boasts a 50MP Sony IMX890 primary camera, a 64MP secondary lens, and an 8MP camera. Meanwhile, the standard Pro features a 50MP primary camera, a 32MP secondary lens, and an 8MP sensor. Both models offer impressive front camera specifications.

Battery: With a substantial 5,000mAh battery and 67W fast charging support, the series aims to provide enduring battery life and quick recharging capabilities.

Price Range

While the complete pricing details are yet to be revealed, the alleged retail box of the Realme 12 Pro+ suggests an MRP of Rs 34,999 for the 8GB and 128GB variants. However, industry insiders predict the actual cost to be around Rs 30,000. The standard Realme 12 Pro is likely to be positioned below the Pro+ model, with an estimated price range of Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000.
