The users of the Redmi Note 8 have complained about touch delay around the edges of the display. The users have taken it to Reddit to further discuss the issue.
What at first appeared to be a touch delay problem with only Redmi Note 8 devices soon turned out to be a problem with other Redmi devices as well. Other Xiaomi smartphones, such as Mi 9, Mi 9 SE, Mix 2S, Redmi Note 7, Redmi Note 7 Pro, Redmi Note 8 Pro, Mi A2 to name a few, are facing this problem.
At first, it was thought to be a hand gesture or even a SwiftKey problem. The keys near the edge of the smartphone’s screen are getting typed after some delay. The problem, at first, was thought to stem from the full-screen gestures. After disabling the full-screen gesture, the keyboard apparently works fine.
However, the problem does not lie with the full-screen gesture only. The disabling of this gesture seemed to fix the keyboard typing delay issue but it actually did not fix the problem. For example, the problem persists while gaming and the controls are somewhere near the edge of the display screen.
While some people are still thinking that the problem lies with the MIUI, updating the UI does not work either, and for some people, updating the UI has in fact resulted in further app-freezing related problems.
This issue apparently is not new and has been a part of Redmi devices since Redmi Note 5 was released in the market. Xiaomi is yet to take notice of this problem and offer a solution.
The users on Reddit are trying to catch the attention of the developers of Redmi software. However, the fact remains that since this problem has been with Redmi devices as long back as the release of Note 5, maybe the developers are not so keen on fixing this problem.
