At the Redmi K30 conference in Beijing, China held on December 10, 2019, Redmi launched a series of gadgets. Even though all the gadgets introduced at the conference are spectacular in their own rights, the router introduced by the tech giant has to be the show-stopper. Xiaomi Redmi introduced its first-ever router the AC2100 which guarantees to deliver 2100 Mbps speed.
The router also promises to improve connectivity and latency. The design of the router looks a lot like Asus’s gaming routers. The Redmi AC2100 router comes in white color with 6 omnidirectional 5dBi antennas.
The processor that the router runs on is capable of reaching the speed of 880 MHz. The Xiaomi router also has dual-band support, which uses the combined traditional 2.4 GHz band with the 5 GHz band. The first one is supposed to reach the speed of 300 Mbps and the second one is supposed to reach the speed of 1733 Mbps.
The Redmi AC2100 router is sort of futuristic not only in terms of its design but also because it features ‘Beamforming.’ This is a new technology in its format, and it can automatically detect the location of the connected device so that it follows the route to the device and intensifies its signal in the direction of where the connected device is located. The 4 x 4 MU-MIMO technology allows several devices’ simultaneous connection without sacrificing speed.
Coming to the number of connected devices, the router is capable of maintaining a strong connection due to its powerful processor and 128 MB memory. Redmi claimed that the router is capable of connecting up to 128 devices simultaneously.
There are several LED status indicators on its body and a rear switch with a total of 4 GB sockets.
The Xiaomi Redmi AC2100 router will go on sale in China on 12th December, 2019 and it is priced at 169 yuan. Redmi has not mentioned when the router will be available worldwide.
