OTT services are at its peak now especially since almost everyone is home-stuck. Various telecoms, such as Vodafone Idea, Airtel, and BSNL, usually offer complimentary subscriptions to streaming services, like Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, and ZEE5 to name a few.
The subscriptions are offered to both pre-paid and postpaid plans. Now, another Indian telecom service Reliance Jio has started offering a similar complimentary subscription to OTTs.
Both the MyJio app and the official Jio website are teasing annual VIP subscriptions for the Hotstar owned Disney+ streaming service. It should be mentioned that only recently Airtel offered a Rs 401 prepaid data pack that comes with a free VIP subscription to Disney+ Hotstar for its users.
As for the plan released by Jio, the company has not released any official statement regarding the details of the subscription plan yet. Additionally, it is not clear yet which recharge pack this free subscription is applicable on or when it will start.
The teaser only mentions “coming soon”. However, since most of the other Indian telecom operators are already in this field, it could be assumed that Reliance Jio would not waste too much time before launching the plan.
As for Airtel, its Rs. 401 prepaid data pack offers a Disney+ Hotstar VIP annual membership to its users. The annual VIP membership is priced at Rs. 399 in total.
However, Rs. 401 pack comes with certain perks of its own, and it is value for money. With the 401 data pack, users get 3GB of free data per day for 28 days and an annual subscription. However, the Rs 401 data pack can be availed by any user only once a year (360 days to be exact) to avoid misuse of the subscription.
One more thing could be assumed that the Reliance Jio subscription pack would be conveniently priced.
