Chris and Albert, the modders, have come up with a new version of their HD Project mod for the game Resident Evil 4, which is now available for download and is titled: Resident Evil 4 HD Project Release 3.
This new mod features 28GB of new high-quality textures, along with 3D models and fixes on lighting and shadows. Players will also be able to apply the 4GB patch tool that will take care of the random crashes they might come across.
Additionally, the modders have brought several new gradient files that are optional. These files can replace the original color filters, and let players change the values of the color filters from the Video Settings menu.
There are four new options introduced as well. The “1” option lets the game imitate the Gamecube color scheme of a television set. The “2” is a cold filter, and the “3” is a warm filter. Lastly, the “4” can imitate the yellowish/reddish tone, which has been removed from numerous areas of the video game.
According to the Resident Evil 4 HD Project Release 3 Release notes, there are numerous fixes and improvements of the game in this mod. Some of these are fixes on minor audio bugs, torches and crossbow arrows of enemies casting real-time light, and enhanced explosions of barrels and tanks.
The village and castle packs are fully updated on all textures, 3D edits, and other effects. Other newly introduced and updated packs are Island, Separate Ways, Assignment Ada, The Mercenaries, Weapons, Items, Cut-scene, and the Subscreen and Menus and Weapons Pack.
The developers have been promoting about this release since a couple of months now and had said in the third announcement trailer released in early June that Weapon textures will have a full makeover in the final release.
