Netflix has finally announced the launch date of its anime series Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness. The events of the new anime will follow the adventures of Claire and Leon in a 3DCG series.
The series takes place right after the events of Residents Evil 4. The anime series is directed by Eiichiro Hasumi and will premier on Netflix on July 8. Capcom Co. and TMS Entertainment are producing Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, and Quebico is in charge of animation.
The anime series is based on Capcom’s most famous zombie survival games. The game Resident Evil celebrates its 25 years this year. The CG anime will follow the protagonists Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield (played by Stephanie Panisello) in 2006 as they go their way killing zombies and dealing with a mysterious tyrant.
The trailer that Netflix launched indicates that there will be a hint of political corruption, and people engaged in banter in the middle of a Zombie crisis, all of this will be underpinned by a mystery that will be uncovered at last. Meanwhile, the trailer shows the zombies overrunning the world. The newest addition to the anime series will be the inclusion of a new kind of intelligent zombies.
As mentioned, the series will be set in the game universe’s 2006. A group is endowed with the task of investigating the matter of a White House file that has been hacked. However, the task gets interrupted due to a zombie attack. The head of investigations discovers a direct link to a Shanghai Lab, which takes him all the way to China to further investigate the matter.
Meanwhile, an NGO worker slowly unravels clues that directly link the zombie attacks to a disaster that took place in the past, in the year 2000. The incident of the year 2000 obviously refers to the Penamstan civil war and the fate of the U.S. Army Mad Dogs.
