Rockwell Automation and Microsoft extend partnership for five years

Rockwell Automation and Redmond ( Washington) based American multinational technology company Microsoft have announced to expand partnership by five years to develop integrated, market-ready solutions which will enable industrial customers to improve digital agility through cloud technology.

The partnership will combine the expertise of each company in the industrial and IT markets, respectively. The teams will be able to work together more easily and this will lead to higher productivity and lower infrastructure costs for industrial organizations.

America based Rockwell Automation, Headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, provides industrial automation and information technology and is one of the largest manufacturers of automation and information technology for industrial production in the world.

Its brands include Allen-Bradley and FactoryTalk software. Using the expertise of this company, Microsoft gets the opportunity of developing the “innovative edge-to-cloud solutions”, that connects information among the developer, operations, and maintenance teams through a single trusted secure data environment.

This has been explained by the Redmonds in a blog post.

This partnership provides Rockwell Automation and Microsoft customers with a holistic, simple solution for IIoT development and operations and removes data silos that hinder industrial digital transformation initiatives. By eliminating a core barrier to automation initiatives, industrial organizations establish a digital thread connecting the entire enterprise, which in turn accelerates innovation, maximizes productivity and optimizes operations- said Blake Moret, Chairman and CEO of Rockwell Automation.

This is not for the first time that Microsoft and Rockwell Automation are collaborating, but the cooperation has been there for decades. The latest Treaty only attempts to deepen existing cooperation.

As the existing contacts would have expired, the new one was essential to extending the cooperation. The products that the Rockwell Automation has developed in collaboration with Microsoft are available in the Azure Marketplace, though many of the solutions are under development and thus cannot yet be utilized for their own organization. However, the offers are exclusively for business customers and not for private users.
