A number of S8 users who registered for the Galaxy Beta Program are now notified that the program is running. The wizard announced that Samsung would launch the Galaxy Beta Program in Korea, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, France, Poland, India, and China. In addition, Korea, the United States, the United Kingdom will be the first. The other countries are discussed in the second phase.

This new beta test is intended to test the owners of a Galaxy S8  and  S8 + Android 8.0 Oreo. It is, therefore, a test version that can contain bugs. Samsung would, therefore, like to receive feedback from the testers to solve any problems. This way, the final version will be spread to all S8 devices without problems.

Even though S8 users are not eligible for the test, via the Galaxy Beta Program, we already get an idea of how Android Oreo, in combination with TouchWiz, will look like the Galaxy S8 devices. The test version will, of course, bring some improvements and new features, such as new app shortcuts and new Android Oreo icons. Samsung will also add changes to the firmware itself.

Availability

You must be enrolled in the Galaxy Beta Program to test the software. This can be done via the Samsung Members app, but fortunately, this does work in our region. The start of the program will vary by region.

The Galaxy Note 8 will eventually be provided with Android Oreo, but the beta is currently only running on S8 and S8 +. Last year, only the Samsung Galaxy S7 Series was provided with Android 7.0 Nougat.
