Today, Samsung announced its launch of SeeColors, the app that supports people with CVD (color vision deficiency). It is compatible with all Samsung QLED TVs and helps diagnose individuals’ visual deficiencies.
A respective diagnosis result of the app in your QLED TV will provide 100% color volume, and color setting adjustment on display and ultimately aims to offer viewers with CVD an experience with accurate colors.
Seongnam Kim, Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, said, “Samsung is committed to making people’s everyday lives smarter and more convenient through technology and innovation.”
He continued, “The launch of SeeColors for QLED TV embodies this mission by providing users with a way to address one of the world’s biggest optical challenges through the latest technologies and visual displays.”
According to a representative survey, about 300 million people across the globe have CVD. The survey further states that about 8% of men and up to 1% of women are affected in North America and Europe. Most of these people are unaware of the condition, and neither of its impacts, in their respective lives. This is where the app comes in with its diagnosis features.
By using the app, viewers will be able to identify both the type and level of CVD and to recalibrate their QLED TV screen accordingly. The diagnosis process was designed by Samsung in collaboration with Professor Klara Wenzel, who leads the Department of Mechatronics, Optics, and Mechanical Engineering Informatics at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics.
Professor Wenzel is the developer of Colorlite Test, or C-Test, for mobiles and televisions, which led to the creation of this app. The test is termed a digital diagnosis, and it uses the color filter concept and mathematical modeling for diagnosing CVD levels.
The Smart TV App Store and Google Play Store already contain SeeColors for you to download. Galaxy App Store for Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 edge, S6 edge+, S7, S7 edge and S8 phones.
Colorlite® is the company that partnered with Samsung in developing the app. The Hungarian company implements certified technology for lenses to helping people address CVD. SeeColors is the inception for Colorlite in the field of televisions and smartphones.
