Samsung has been a leading television manufacturer for years. Today, most Samsung TVs are housed within the QLED TV line-up, which is based on quantum dot technology. In addition, the company also produces a few LED television models, such as the UHD 4K 50 inch (50RU7410). A new trademark application indicates that Samsung wants to implement new technology for its LED TVs.
Samsung dual-LED TV
On October 21, 2019, Samsung Electronics applied for a trademark from the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) for the name Dual LED. The application is categorized as class 9, with the description: ‘televisions; television monitor; TV set; a remote controller for TV; TV stand; wall mounting. “
The application has been submitted by Perani & Partners Spa from Italy. This company has often acted in the name of Samsung Electronics. Also for new TV innovations.
It is still unclear what exactly a Samsung Dual LED TV will be. At the beginning of this year, the company also showed a Micro LED TV at CES 2019, called The Wall, or the new application is related to this is still unknown. It is also possible that the regular LED TVs / monitors will have updated technology.
Earlier this month, Samsung also established a trademark for Zero Bezel and Infinity Screen. These names will probably be applied for the first time to the television sets that will be exhibited at CES 2020. This annual show will start in Las Vegas, America in two and a half months. Among other things, during CES, Samsung will present its new TV portfolio for the first half of 2020.
