Samsung has launched the ‘Samsung Galaxy A07 5G‘ in India as its latest budget 5G smartphone and successor to the well-received Galaxy A06 5G. The handset starts at ₹15,999 for the 4GB + 128GB variant, while the 6GB + 128GB model costs ₹17,999. It comes in Black, Light Violet, and Light Green, with launch offers including up to ₹1,000 cashback on select cards (availability and offers may vary by channel)
Key specifications
The Galaxy A07 5G features a 6.7-inch HD+ display (720×1600) with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 800 nits of Brightness. It also carries an IP54 rating for dust and splash resistance.
Powering the phone is the Dimensity 6300 chipset from MediaTek, paired with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. Storage expansion is supported via microSD (up to 2TB).
Battery and charging

A major upgrade is the 6,000mAh battery (typical), backed by 25W fast charging. Samsung positions the phone for long usage across streaming and day-to-day tasks.
Camera Capabilities
Zooming in on the camera, the Galaxy A07 5G packs in a 50MP autofocus wide camera and a 2MP depth sensor, while the front sports an 8MP selfie shooter for bewitching portraits. Notably, this setup is inherited from the Galaxy A06.
Samsung highlights that the A07’s cameras are enhanced for vibrant colors, crisp details, and capable performance in both bright and low-light conditions. The real camera capabilities can only be seen in real-world use, but judging by camera specs alone, alternatives like the Lava Play Ultra pull ahead with a stronger setup.
In contrast to Samsung’s claims, it is somewhat true that in the mid-range segment the brand falls short of competitors in camera specs and build quality. Yet, in the flagship lineup, Samsung steps in, delivering immaculate precision.
Software and long-term updates
Out of the box, the Galaxy A07 5G runs Android 16 with One UI 8.0. Samsung is also promising six generations of Android OS upgrades plus six years of security updates, which is notable for this price segment.

The phone also packs a feature that could be really beneficial in daily usage. These include biometric authentication for UPI payments via Samsung Wallet, backed by Samsung Knox Vault, a robust hardware-based security solution. The handset also comes packed with an Auto Blocker that looks out for apps from potential security threats, and features built-in theft protection to step in if the device is lost.
The phone ships with an unconfirmed chipset at this time, but judging by the global version, the Galaxy A07 packs MediaTek Dimensity 6300. For casual use, the chipset is decent, but under daunting tasks, it might struggle to keep up with the pace and slow down.
Market Position: Keeping the Mid-Range Segment Alive
The most dramatic thing is that the company does not push any boundaries or set new milestones with its mid-range phones. It somewhat steps back from the frontline in this segment. Its devices neither introduce significant enhancements nor degrade anything in particular; they simply keep the segment alive without any notable improvements.

There are plenty of choices in the mid-range segment if you prioritize specs over the smooth day-to-day experience Samsung offers. However, if raw specifications are your main concern, other brands may be a better option. What Samsung could undertake to redeem its mid-range lineup is launch a phone with staggering features, demonstrating that it can bring innovations similar to those found only in its flagship devices.
