Samsung launched its first Android Oreo Go smartphone around 4 days back. Today, at the fourth ‘Google for India‘ event, the company has gone ahead and announced the price of the device and its availability in the Indian market. Galaxy J2 Core has been conceptualized on the basis of a deep understanding of users who are yet to upgrade to smartphones as well as entry-level smartphone users.
The user experience has been laid with major focus and is perhaps the device’s greatest highlight. With Android Go, Google is essentially aiming to bring the power of connectivity to millions of users around the world. It’s still Android, but the user experience has been tailored for low-end smartphones with less than 1GB RAM. Google is betting big on Android Go Edition smartphones. Close to 400 Android Go edition devices will launch globally towards the end of 2018 from over 150 OEM partners.
Coming back to Galaxy J2 Core, the phone packs very basic specifications. It features a 5-inch TFT display with a 540 x 960 pixels resolution. The device is powered by the company’s own 1.4GHz quad-core Exynos 7570 processor with Mali-T720 MP1 GPU. As previously mentioned, the dual-SIM smartphone runs Android 8.1 Oreo (Go edition). The handset offers 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. Users can further expand the storage by adding a micro SD card up to 256GB.
Considering the vogue of continuous video streaming by users, Galaxy J2 Core’s battery has been enhanced to deliver up to 11 hours of non-stop video streaming on YouTube with a 2,600 mAH battery. The company promises 1.5 times longer battery lasting than other entry-level smartphones.
“Galaxy J2 Core reiterates Samsung’s commitment towards meaningful innovations that delight our customers. We are pleased to integrate industry-first smart memory management solutions that allow apps or content on the memory card. We are also pleased to partner with Google in bringing the latest Android experience for entry-level smartphones with Oreo (Go Edition) on Galaxy J2 Core. This approach eradicates current consumer pain points by opening apps 15% faster, delivering 2X storage out of the box, and allowing consumers to stream content for up to 11 hours on YouTube Go. This is indicative of Samsung’s commitment to a digitally enabled India by allowing our customers to Go Faster & Go Longer.” – Sumit Walia, Director, Mobile business, Samsung India
The phone is already on sale across all retail shops in India as well as on online portals and has been priced at Rs. 6,190. The customers can choose from a color range of Gold, Blue, and Black.
