Today is the big day, Samsung has presented the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+  in a new “Unpacked” event and we can say that in general, almost all the leaks that we had seen previously have been fulfilled.

The South Korean giant maintains a premium design with metal and glass finishes ( the classic “sandwich” format with two layers), angled lines and reduces the screen size to really impressive levels, getting closer and closer to a realistic concept of «Infinite screen».

At the hardware level, one of the most interesting developments from a technical point of view is in the SoC. The Galaxy Note 10 series uses the Exynos 9825, a top-of-the-range chip that has the following specifications:

1. Eight-core CPU divided into three blocks: two M4 cores (Cheetah architecture) high performance at 2.73 GHz, two Cortex-A75 cores (also high performance) at 2.31 GHz and four high-efficiency Cortex-A55 cores at 1.91 GHz.

2. Mali-G76 GPU with 12 graphics cores.

3. Support LPDDR4X memory at 2,093 GHz.

4. Supports front camera up to 22 MP and three rear cameras of 22 MP, 16 MP and 16 MP.

5. 8K video at 30 FPS and 4K at 150 FPS.

6. LTE connectivity: Shannon 5000 Cat.20 DL, Cat.13 UL.

7. Supports 5G connectivity when combined with the Exynos Modem 5100 modem.

In general, we find the same base that we have in the Exynos 9820, with the particularity that Samsung has been able to make the leap to the 7 nm LPP process (extreme ultraviolet lithography). We do not have details on the working frequencies of the GPU, but we cannot rule out that the company has carried out an increase in frequencies to offer a superior performance that brings it closer to what the Adreno 640 offers, present in Snapdragon 855 and Snapdragon 855 Plus.

Galaxy Note 10: two versions to reach more public

It was an open secret, Samsung has followed the trend that has been making its way among the greats of the sector and has chosen to diversify its Note series by making a fork that leaves us two models: the standard version and the “Plus” version.

They do not present differences in construction quality or design, but at the level of size and hardware we find nuances that mark a considerable distance between both versions, and that obviously end up affecting the price.

As we had anticipated in previous leaks we have a Dynamic AMOLED O screen in both phones, but with a different size and resolution. The Galaxy Note 10 has a size of 6.3 inches and a resolution of 2,280 x 1,080 pixels, while the “Plus” model goes up to 6.8 inches and has a resolution of 3,040 x 1,440 pixels.

The “O” refers to the position of the central chamber, which is located in the center of the screen,  just below an upper edge that, as we see, looks thinner than ever.  Samsung has achieved a very sharp reduction of edges and has managed to raise the bar in the race to the smartphone all screen. It has achieved it without having to resort to retractable solutions.

Both have a 19: 9 screen format and support HDR10 +, which makes them an excellent ally for creatives, professionals, and devourers of multimedia content. There is no doubt, the screen is one of the strengths of the Galaxy Note 10 family, but it is not the only one.

Samsung improves the S-Pen

One of the great protagonists in each presentation event of the Galaxy Note is the S-Pen, an accessory that Samsung has maintained as exclusive to this family to differentiate it from the rest of its devices, and that continues to provide a clear value that extends from the private user to the professional.

The S-Pen is compatible with Bluetooth BLE connectivity and can work as a motion-based control system, thanks to the integration of an accelerometer and gyroscope.  Thus, and as an example, we can use gestures to zoom and scroll movements.  The autonomy has also received a boost since according to Samsung the S-Pen is able to offer up to 11 hours of autonomy.

We cannot finish talking about the S-Pen without referring to the  Samsung Notes application,  which has received an important update.  Now it supports a greater number of formats, which facilitates the export of documents, and allows converting handwritten text into text with a specific format and font with just one touch.

The Galaxy Note 10 maintains the classic dedicated space where the S-Pen can be stored, something basic that prevents us from losing this accessory.

Specifications, price, and availability

Samsung has confirmed the presence of DeX mode in the Galaxy Note 10. This useful tool actually allows turning the device into a Linux-based pocket PC when it is connected to an external display.  This is an important boost in terms of productivity, although it is true that it is intended for a specific niche of users.
