We already know that Samsung will unveil its Galaxy S9 and S9+ at the next month-end MWC in Barcelona, and the device duo is expected to steal the show. Recently, we came across a video on Weibo showcasing the appearances of the Samsung Galaxy S9 that might fuel the hype. Samsung also started exclusive marketing by getting its recognized event named Galaxy Unpacked 2018 at the exhibition, showcasing the camera ‘reimagined’ to tip to the build-up in the month-long wait.
First, the 10-second video shows the S9 going through a touch sensitivity test. It doesn’t give much info on the device, although the navigation buttons at the bottom are quite suggestive of confirming that it’s a Samsung handset. Also, the phone’s front panel is the same as that of the Galaxy S8, and Samsung said that S9 will be an iterative update. Although, the bottom bezel of the video’s phone seems to be further trimmed.
For a refresher, the Samsung device duo is to feature 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch Quad HD + Super AMOLED display. Both the S9 and S9+ will be packing the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chip for the American markets. Other markets will receive the variants packing Samsung’s signature Exynos 9 Series 9810 SoC.
Thinner bezels and huge gains in performance and graphics processing over the predecessor model are expected too. Another highlight that the S9 series will sport is the fingerprint sensor’s position. It will be below the camera module for easier reach.
Now comes the camera ‘Reimagined’ part which would be a single rear camera setup for the S9, as per most of the reports, with its sibling device packing dual rear cameras. S9’s camera will provide a wider f/1.5 aperture in low-light conditions, and locked f/2.4 under well-lit scenarios. Other talks suggest that the camera will be able to shoot 1080p slow-motion videos at 480 frames per second, and 720p slow-motion videos at 960fps.
Both the phones will have bodies of metal and glass design and will support wireless charging capability. The duo is likely to have IP68 certificates for water and dust resistance will be running Android 8.0 Oreo and may bear 3.5mm headphone jack.
Samsung invites people to the Galaxy Unpacked celebration starting at 6 pm CET, February 25 in Fira de Barcelona at the MWC 2018.
