As we just discovered on the Geekbench benchmark database, Samsung appears to be gearing ready to unveil a new tough device under the XCover series — the Samsung Galaxy XCover Pro 2.
The handset was identified by the model number SM-G736B on the benchmark database website. Some critical specs of the next Samsung rugged smartphone are revealed in the benchmark listing.
The Geekbench 5 database website has listed the Samsung Galaxy XCover Pro 2 with model number SM-G736B. In the single-core round of the Geekbench 5 test, the handset received 766 points. The score in the multi-core round, on the other hand, was 2722 points.
The handset would be powered by an octa-core processor codenamed Lahaina, according to the benchmark listing. Four of the eight cores will operate at a frequency of 1.80GHz. The remaining four will operate at a frequency of 2.40GHz.
The next Galaxy XCover Pro 2 appears to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G processor based on the codename and cluster configuration.
The Snapdragon 778G is built on TSMC’s 6nm fabrication process and includes an Adreno 642L GPU. This is the same chipset that powers the Xiaomi 11 Lite NE 5G, Realme 9 Speed Edition, Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G, and Realme GT Master Edition, among other mid-range phones.
The handset will also be packed with 6GB of RAM, according to the benchmark listing. It will ship with Android 12 pre-installed, but the OneUI skin will be applied on top of it, as is customary.
The Galaxy Xcover Pro 2 may be a revised version of the Galaxy A73, with a Super AMOLED display, a worse camera, and, of course, MIL-STD military-grade certification, according to SamMobile sources.
