As you all know, there is not a single software that is 100% secured or has no faults. Therefore, Samsung recently introduced the Mobile Security Rewards Program, which is basically a bounty program for bugs related to its mobile devices like smartphones. So, Samsung announced that it would pay a reward to anyone, be it a user or developer up to $200,000 for finding flaws in its products.
The Security Program includes 38 Samsung mobile devices for rewards. The list contains Galaxy S, Galaxy Note, Galaxy A, Galaxy J, and the Galaxy Tab series. The S8, S8+, and Note 8 are included in Samsung’s flagship devices.
The company also says that it will reward cash prizes to those who will be able to detect flaws in Bixby, Samsung Pay, Samsung Account, Samsung Pass, and other services. It will reward a cash prize of $200 for detecting the bug, but it depends on the type of bug that the user/developer is able to detect with a valid explanation.
Microsoft rewards a cash prize of $250,000 for Windows 10 security bugs which is greater than Samsung’s bounty. Another company named Apple launched an invite-only program that rewards cash prizes of up to $200,000. Also, Facebook and Google are on the list. These bounties have enabled various hackers to make millions of money legally. Just like a single researcher has made $225,000 by simply hacking browsers.
