Samsung announced the availability of Samsung Pay in Italy today, March 22. That’s the 21st market the app has been launched in.
Samsung Pay was awarded ‘Best Mobile Innovation for Payment’ in MWC 2018. It was recognized for being innovative and for enabling users with the first integrated rewards program in the world. The program lets users in each of their purchases with the app earn points to be exchanged for prizes.
The technologies Near Field Communication (NFC) and Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) of the brand together make the payment solution acceptable around the world. It is a part of Samsung’s commitment to transforming the mobile industry and is presently on course to expand.
Samsung Pay is in collaboration with over 1,700 partnerships, including payment providers Visa and Mastercard. Its continued support for both MST and NFC payments has also enhanced adoption, enabling market access in countries that support either payment option. – Yongje Kim, Executive Vice President of Service Business Office, Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics
The app consists of three security levels: fingerprint or iris authentication, card tokenization, and Samsung Knox. The brand is compatible with many Galaxy smartphones and ensures newer models are on the way. The payment process is easy for users.
In Italy, the solution can be used on compatible devices that include Samsung’s wearables alongside Galaxy handsets. Gear S3, Gear Sport, new phones Galaxy S9 and S9+ are eligible. All existing payment locations in the country that accept debit and credit cards are also on the list. Promotional coupons and membership cards are for further wallet experience.
Additionally, value-added features are coming up for Italian customers, which is a part of Samsung’s initiative to provide tailored products and customized solutions as per specific market needs. The offers include discounts up to 20% on brands like Daybreak Hotel, Leroy Merlin, EF Education, and Moleskin. Some goodies awaiting the Azzurries and their countrymen!
