Samsung to reveal its lineup ahead of IFA 2018. Europe’s biggest consumer electronics tradeshow is yet to start, but it seems that Samsung is too excited to wait as the company reveals its lineup of curved display monitors. It has introduced the 34-inch CJ79 and the CJ89 with 43-inch and 49-inch QLED curved monitors with first-of-its-kind Thunderbolt 3 connectivity.
The 34-inch CJ79 has a 3440×1440 ultra-wide curved display and a 21:9 aspect ratio. The monitor comes with Picture-in-Picture (PIP) feature that not only displays two different sources simultaneously but also allows the users to resize the second source to up to 25 percent of the screen and position it anywhere.
The highlight of the CJ79 is Thunderbolt 3 connectivity, and Samsung claims the Samsung Thunderbolt 3 monitor is the first of its kind to have that. Its Picture-by-Picture (PBP) feature can display visuals from two different sources, while the Picture-in-Picture (PIP) mode provides better multitasking.
The CJ79 is our latest endeavour in taking curved monitors to the next level that highlights our commitment to innovation. And the Thunderbolt™ 3 connectivity adds to the vision and connects customers to infinite possibilities. – Seog-gi Kim, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics
The company also launched the CJ89 monitor in 43-inch and 49-inch. The 43-inch ultra-wide curved monitor has a 3840 x 1200 screen resolution and a 32:10 aspect ratio. The 49-inch, on the other hand, comes with a screen having 32:9 aspect ratios and 3840 x 1080 resolutions. Both the variants have a refresh rate of 120Hz and 144Hz, respectively.
As for the availability, the monitors are currently available in Europe and will be out in the global market soon.
