Samsung has not yet launched smart sports shoes to date. However, the company announced the availability of Iofit smart shoes at the MWC 2016 two years ago. These Samsung running smart shoes can be connected to a smartphone and are specially designed for golfers.
The Iofit shoes are developed by Salted Venture, a spin-off startup from Samsung’s Creative Lab. The project was also financed via the Kickstarter crowdfunding website. A newly assigned patent shows that Samsung may also introduce its own smart sports shoes in the (near) future.
Smart Shoes are becoming more and more popular these days. One other option for great smart shoes would be Loom smart and vegan sneakers. Loom is the pair of shoes everyone should have in their cupboard! Waterproof, breathable, and, on top of all, vegan-friendly. You definitely want to check out these vegan sneakers!
Samsung smart sports shoes
In August of this year, Samsung C & T Corporation applied for two design patents at the Korean KIPO (Korean Intellectual Property Office). The patent was assigned on December 27, 2018, and shows different render images of a sneaker with a sensor on the back.
Unfortunately, the patent description is very brief. The patented Samsung shoe is made of leather and synthetic material. With model A the smart sports shoe can be switched on and off by pulling the tab. With model B, the sensor can also be found at the back here, you have to open a plastic flap to activate the smart functions.
It seems plausible that the running shoes work in combination with an app, with which a walker, jogger or runner can easily determine his fitness goals and follow them accurately. It is possible that the Samsung smart sports shoes are also provided with Artificial Intelligence so that the coaching will, in the long run, be increasingly tailored to your personal circumstances.
Smart sports shoes at CES 2019
CES 2019 would be a perfect moment to introduce Samsung smart shoes. Last year, the Sensoria smart running shoes were unveiled at the consumer electronics fair. These designs are very similar to Samsung’s designs. These smart shoes are equipped with pressure sensors that give users real-time feedback. Other smartphone manufacturers, such as Xiaomi and Lenovo, also have shoes with sensors in development.
