As part of the commemoration to mark the 10th anniversary of its smart TVs, Samsung Electronics has today officially announced a partnership with top international ODM, Original Development Manufacturing companies: Atmaca, HKC, and Tempo to enable its non-smart TV models to use Tizen OS for the first time.

As far back as 2012, Samsung and the Linux Foundation collaborated to introduce the initial version, Tizen OS has grown exponentially over the previous ten years. With the most recent addition of Tizen-powered smart TVs, the number of users of Samsung Smart TVs is predicted to rise to 200 million from 197 different countries.

Users To Enjoy Premium Smart TV Experience by Tizen

This year, new TVs from Bauhn, Linsar, Sunny, Vispera, and other brands will be sold in Australia, Italy, New Zealand, Spain, Turkey, and the United Kingdom. Tizen, an open-source operating system for Samsung Smart TV, enables Tizen to offer users a superior smart TV experience.

The new Tizen-powered smart TVs were released after Samsung’s Tizen TV Platform Licensing program was revealed in 2021 at the Samsung Developer Conference (SDC). The licensing agreement enables other TV manufacturers to benefit from Tizen OS, which offers cutting-edge smart features, apps, and a contemporary user interface for the best smart TV experience.

Samsung Partnership with Leading International ODM

Samsung works with several partners on content licensing and hardware enhancements to promote the smooth rollout of Tizen OS. These collaborations allow Tizen to take advantage of its constantly growing ecosystem to bolster its services while giving various TV brands access to a world of entertainment that Samsung Smart TVs only offer.

Samsung TV Plus Key Features

With these new licensing partnerships, users are expected to enjoy the following key features in the TV brands and also gain access to:

1. Samsung’s free streaming TV and video platform, Samsung TV Plus, will be able to access hundreds of live channels and free entertainment, news, programs, and sports content.

2. Users may spend more time watching and less time searching thanks to the Universal Guide, which enables simple browsing and discovery of all content across various streaming apps.

3. In all, a voice assistant platform called Bixby will give people a more practical method to learn about smart TVs. Users can instruct Bixby to search, observe, or carry out several tasks.

Samsung To Expand and Introduce More Tizen OS Products

Speaking on the new licensing partnerships, Yongjae Kim, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, said the company would continue to expand and introduce more Tizen OS brands and products to enhance users’ experience.

“Starting with these new Tizen-powered smart TVs, we will continue to expand the licensing program and introduce Tizen OS and its ecosystem to more products and brands around the world,” said Yongjae Kim, “2022 has been a memorable year for Tizen OS as we celebrate its 10th anniversary and the very first Tizen-powered smart TVs available from other brands.”
