Samsung announced various Infinity Displays in November 2018, since then it has been using this technology in all Samsung Galaxy smartphones. Samsung QLED TV can be expanded with software
Samsung Electronics registered a trademark on November 8, 2019, with the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) for an ‘Infinity Screen’. The application was submitted by Abril Abogados from Madrid, Spain.
The trademark is categorized as Class 9, with the description; ‘television; television monitor; software; TV software; software for enlarging the television screen to maximum size ‘.
Seeing the descriptions provided with the patent, one can conclude that Samsung has a new television in development, probably a Samsung QLED TV, whereby it becomes possible with software to increase the image size. How this will work in practice is still unknown.
Last week LetsGoDigital also reported on a Samsung Zero Bezel OLED TV, possibly that this television is also equipped with an Infinity Screen. The trademark for Zero Bezel was submitted by the same intermediary. It is possible that the new Samsung TV in development is also equipped with a Mind processor, which should make the television a lot smarter.
The Wall was introduced by Samsung, a microLED TV that can be modularly enlarged and reduced at CES 2018, the world’s largest annual trade show for consumer electronics, that takes place early in the year in Las Vegas, Nevada. This time the Korean manufacturer seems to be opting for a software solution, possibly meant for consumer TVs, instead of the business market.
Samsung every year shows its latest TV innovations at the CES 2018, it seems likely that the first QLED TV with Infinity Screen will be exhibited during CES 2020.
