Samsung unveils world’s first ‘Do-it-all’ smart monitor in India for convenient work-time

Samsung has always given much importance to its user’s convenience. To make its users’ life more fruitful during the pandemic, this South Korean tech giant launched its all-new smart monitor in India for convenient work from home.

This monitor is designed to harmonize with all types of surroundings and add a modern approach to the user’s aesthetic personality. It sports a 3-side borderless display stretching from edge to edge for maximum viewing.

Samsung claims that the smart monitor is designed to “meet the ever-evolving needs of Indian Gen Z and millennials who are working, learning and consuming entertainment at the same time, the premium lifestyle Smart Monitor incorporates powerful mobile and PC connectivity, remote home office, and learning features as well as Smart Hub, a comprehensive entertainment hub, similar to Samsung’s built-in Smart TV platform, to watch OTT content seamlessly”.

Therefore, the users can get access to multiple platforms, e.g. Netflix, YouTube, Apple TV, and others via the ‘Do-it-all’ smart monitor. Other than these, it comes with Samsung DeX, Microsoft 365 applications to make working and learning from home seamless.

Puneet Sethi, the Vice President, Consumer Electronics Enterprise Business, Samsung India said; “The pandemic has changed our lifestyle and work, education and entertainment have transformed into home-centered activities. Today, consumers value products that offer convenience and enable them to multitask seamlessly. At Samsung, we believe in bringing impactful innovations and our new Smart Monitor is an example of that. Consumers no longer have to choose between different screens for varied uses as Smart Monitor brings it all together and offers the flexibility to smoothly transition from working and learning to entertain oneself”.

Features and specifications

The smart monitor comes in two variants – M7 and M5 which have a resolution of 3,840×2,160 and 1,920×1,080 respectively with a brightness of 250 nits. The M7 has a 32 inches display whereas the M5 cones in 32 and 27 inches display option. The smart monitor comes with a Tizen 5.5 operating system and uses Wi-Fi 5 as another connectivity option.

Both of the variants feature two 5W speakers, two HDMI, TM2050A remote control accessories, and a sound mirroring option. Whereas the M7 has three USB ports and a C-type USB, the M5 comes with only two USB ports. M7 has also got a 65W USB C type charging option which is unavailable for the latter model.

The Adaptive Picture of the Samsung monitor optimizes picture quality for any viewing environment by automatically adjusting brightness and color temperature in response to room conditions, using a sensor. Samsung’s Eye Saver Mode also reduces the blue light emissions and its Flicker Free technology removes screen flicker, allowing the use of the monitor for longer with less eye strain.

In addition to these, the Samsung smart monitor also has smart services, e.g. TV Plus, universal guide, Bixby, Tap view, App casting, remote access etc. Samsung Smart Monitor provides numerous connectivity options for both PCs and smartphones. The Tap View option lets the users to connect their personal mobile devices with just a simple tap. When connected to Wi-Fi, the Smart Monitor operates Microsoft 365 applications without a PC, thus enabling them to save important documents to cloud directly from the monitor.

Other than the remote control, the users can also control the monitor via voice using Samsung’s Bixby or other voice assistants such as Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

Price and availability

As mentioned before, Samsung Smart Monitor is available in two models – the M7 that supports Ultra-High Definition resolution has a 32-inch screen size and the M5 that supports Full HD resolution comes in 32-inch and 27-inch screen sizes.

The Samsung first ‘Do-it-all’ smart monitors will be available in India from April 09, 2021, with a starting price of INR 28,000 on Samsung’s official online store Samsung Shop, Amazon, and all leading retail stores. Samsung is offering an introductory price of INR 21,999 onwards for the device for only a limited period.
