In a strategic move to cater to the Chinese market, Samsung unveils two new phone models, the W25 and W25 Flip. These models share significant hardware similarities to the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition and the Galaxy Z Flip 6, but they come with exclusive features designed specifically for the Chinese market.

The Need for an Exclusive Phone
By tailoring their brand specifically to the Chinese consumer, Samsung aims to cater to their customer’s unique preferences and nuances. The company markets its product with a dynamic wallpaper “Golden Wings Huangsha”, which symbolizes prosperity, success, and high aspirations. The site also showcases a logo that translates to “Heart to Heart” showing the elites “broad-mindedness and extraordinary demeanor of self-improvement.” making it clear who Samsung wishes to cater to.
Key Features and Enhancements
One thing that must be noted is that, while appearances can get you through in life, the Chinese market is a cutthroat one where looking good might not be enough. The W25 and W25 Flip model boasts several significant updates that make it worthy of the Chinese market.
Design and Display:
At just 10.6mm thick- a full 1.5mm thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold6 this device unfolds to an impressive 4.9mm. The stunning 8-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2Xdisplay with a 20:18 aspect ratio and a larger 6.5-inch outer display makes interactions seamless and visually captivating.
Camera Quality:
When it comes to photography, the W25 series includes a 200MP main camera, significantly higher than the 50MP of the Z Fold6. This is complemented by a 12MP ultra-wide and 10MP 3x telephoto camera.
Performance:
Performance-wise, it is hooked up with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy SoC, with a massive 16GB RAM, and up to 1TB storage. With all that, it maintains IP48 ratings, enhanced Armor Aluminum, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, and a 4400mAh battery.
The W25 Flip also shines with a 6.7-inch Full HD+ display, 12GB RAM, 512GB storage, and a 50MP wide camera. It retains a 4000mAh battery with 25W fast charging making the design both for flair and convenience.
A Next-Gen Bixby
The W25 and W25 Flip also come with a new version of Samsung’s Bixby virtual assistant. Bixby is now much better at understanding natural language and context as it is powered by large language models (LLMs). Bixby is thus capable of understanding multiple commands like “It’s cold outside” and “What should I have for breakfast?” to provide you with not only a weather projection but also some food suggestions to keep you warm.
Bixby also can understand the context behind the commands like “How should I make my way to a good place to eat” to comprehend that you require Bixby to provide directions and suggestions to a restaurant based on your commands. The virtual assistant gives step-by-step instructions with not only directions but also tasks related to your device through understanding what is on your screen and offering contextual help. The new Bixby is only available to W25 and W25 Flip currently but is expected to roll out globally with One UI 7.0 early next year.

The W25 and W25 Flip will be available for purchase from the 15th of November in China. For detailed pricing and more information on the different models, you can visit Samsung’s official website.
