Citing the advancements of global 5G standards, Liu Liehong, deputy minister of China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), called for a data security initiative in 2020. According to him, “interoperability and mutual recognition for technologies so we can have a bridge for collaboration” is the focus of the meet.

In a situation where the whole world is obsessed with data security, definitely for the obvious reasons, an initiative from the front of the developers is a positive thing. They have been keen on providing the best of security, and Liu Liehong has commented that MIIT “stands ready to strengthen our guidance and policy for the mobile industry”.

The US has been putting a lot of effort to restrict the usage of products from the house of Huawei. Therefore, the government of China is upright in responding to this role of the US.

The government of China has called for a global summit with companies having common principles so as to come up with a proper response to this restriction and absurd initiatives of the US. Therefore the global data security initiative is the prime action that they have been gearing up for.

5G being the ultimate new in-thing for the world at the moment, various fronts are trying to make this point as the moment of the great rising. But at the same moment, it is also very clear that several fronts are competing for the same global reach.

At this point, instead of being at loggerheads with each other, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has asked for an international cooperation and collaboration. Liu Liehong has stressed that the world has to come together “so that we can complement each other, promote each other and enhance the level of development of global 5G”.

The initiative has been backed with some real groundwork. Around 718,000 5G base stations have been installed which account for about 70 percent of the global deployments.

According to Liu, China has more than 200 million 5G subscribers and they have a standalone coverage that has now been reaching all “municipality-level cities”.
