Skype has introduced its popular screen sharing feature into mobile calling experience on Android and iOS, as per the Skype blog post dated June 4, to facilitate easy screen sharing for people across all ages and all regions.
One only has to start a Skype call, tap the newly redesigned “…” menu and start sharing one’s screen with the other person.
As a corollary, Skype has also introduced several improvements to its mobile calling experience, one of which is the aforementioned “…” menu which contains the options of screen sharing, call recording and subtitles.
This screen sharing feature is not supported on Skype for Web.
The user can also access the newly enhanced video call feature with ease. For simplicity of use, Skype has made it possible to dismiss call controls on screen with just a single tap in its attempt to provide a clutter-free video calling experience. A double tap is supposed to make the experience even ‘cleaner’. Just a single tap on the screen would make the call controls appear on the screen once again.
The speaker and audio device button would from now on be on the upper right side of the screen, next to the user’s video. This would facilitate easy one-handed audio device switching.
This update also brings with it a larger video preview in one-to-one video calls.
The latest version of Skype (8.38.76.134) is available on Android devices running Android 6 and above and on iOS devices (iPhone, iPad) running iOS 12 and up.
