Intel and Alibaba have announced a partnership on developing artificial intelligence (AI) technology at the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show. It will leverage both of the companies’ resources and is primarily aimed at the next Olympics Games that is to be held in Tokyo in 2020.
Intel’s new 3D Athlete tracking technology is hosted on Alibaba’s cloud infrastructure and uses AI to analyze videos of athletes to improve and assist in their training. It will also enable to enhance the audience experience during the competition. The partnership aims to provide athletes with new training data and analysis and create new viewing experiences for fans worldwide.
We are pleased to collaborate with Intel on the first-ever AI-powered 3D athlete tracking technology where Alibaba is proud to contribute its best-in-class cloud computing capability and algorithmic design – Chris Tung, CMO, Alibaba Group.
The company also claims that this AI technology has incredible potential as an athlete training tool for the way fans experience the Games and reexamining highlights during instant replays to give fans insights into how the athletes perform.
This collaboration between the companies is part of 10 years of commitment to the Olympic Games.
