Knowing the importance of snap streaks, Snapchat is now allowing users to pause this feature. Users will be able to pause only one streak for free during the test phase.
In an official announcement, Snapchat said a lost Snap Streak doesn’t mean that friendship has gone cold. “Starting today, we’re making it easier to take a break with a new feature we’re testing to let you reignite the spark and restore one Streak for free with just one tap.
Users will have the option to add more Streak Restores right from the app. Moreover, the company is looking at rolling out the ability for Snapchat+ users for freezing streaks. But users have to pay either way to maintain the streaks.
What Are Snap Streaks
This is a crucial feature of the social media platform Snapchat. It keeps users hooked to the ephemeral messaging. Snapchat, through gamifying the process of sending and receiving Snaps through Snapchat Streaks, has created a loyal fanbase. In simple words, Snap Streaks are a measure of the a person’s activity with a Snapchat user. One can identify an active Snapchat Streak via the fire/flame emoji next to the contact’s name on the Chat screen.
In order to keep the snap Snap Streak going, Snapchat requires the user to send and receive photos and video Snaps to their friends at least once within 24 hours. The Snap Streak will be lost if the user fails to do so. To keep it ongoing, users need to exchange snaps every day.
Besides this new feature, Snapchat recently added an experimental My AI feature, an OpenAI-developed GPT chatbot for its Snapchat+ subscribers. It offers users suggestions for birthday gifts, dinner recipes and helps plan trips with friends and family.
