Snap is testing a visual search that allows users to shop Amazon products using the Snapchat camera. In an official news release, the social media platform announced that “we’re testing a new way to search for products on Amazon right from the Snapchat camera, “The Snapchat Visual Search.”
Social media companies are exploring various ways to use their user base in the eCommerce arena. The Snapchat visual search will allow users to browse Amazon products and buy it using their camera right from the photo-messaging app. After a user scans a barcode or an image, the Amazon card will appear on-screen with the product details and shopping option. This feature will allow users to purchase the product or similar ones available from Amazon.com or Amazon app by tapping the link.
It’s super easy to use. Simply point your Snapchat camera at a physical product or barcode, and press and hold on the camera screen to get started. – Snap Blog
