In a bid to enhance smartphone users’ experience, Qualcomm, the world’s leading chipset maker has announced its latest chipset – the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, which succeeded the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 for mobile platforms.
The new chipset, according to the company’s presentation, enhances battery economy, AI, and CPU and GPU performance. Comparing the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chipset to its predecessor, there is a noticeable boost.
Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 Supplant Its Predecessors
With a top speed of 2.91 GHz and a Qualcomm Kryo CPU, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chipset outperforms the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset by more than 50%. Furthermore, it is asserted that the new Adreno GPU performs 2x better as its predecessor.
Performance is not the only thing that has increased. According to claims, the new Gen 2 chipset has a 13% increase in power efficiency over its predecessor. This indicates that the chipset uses less power while doing tasks better than the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset.
Feature and Performance
The auto variable rate shading (AVRS) function of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chipset optimizes power and efficiency by rendering in-focus information at full resolution and background content at a lesser resolution.
Users may take pictures in dim lighting thanks to the chipset’s 18-bit triple image signal processor (ISP). To produce a brighter and clearer image, the ISP takes 30 photos and combines the finest ones into one. It can accommodate 200MP sensors.
The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chipset, which includes the Snapdragon X62 5G Modem-RF System, provides dual-SIM dual-active (DSDA) for both 4G and 5G connections and offers download speeds of up to 4.4 Gbps.
Additionally, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chipset has improved AI performance. It is advertised as having two times the performance of its predecessor and has on-device AI integration across the platform.
