SoftBank Corp. in Japan has launched its 5G mmWave service based on Qualcomm Snapdragon 5G Mobile Platforms and Modem-RF Systems. It will allow the users to enjoy the fastest speed of the 5G network. Alongside the 5G technology, SoftBank is also working on making the “Pocket WiFi 5G A004ZT” 5G mmWave mobile hotspot available for sale. All of these 5G smartphones that have been introduced and are yet to be introduced will be powered by Qualcomm Technologies’ 5G mmWave products.
The 5G mmWave is expected to supply the massive increase in demand for mobile data efficiently; this is expected to deliver the world’s fastest multi-gigabit cellular speeds and low latency connectivity. Apparently, it will also help to increase the network capacity, which becomes a prerequisite for the sudden increase in demand for data.
“5G mmWave is critical for mobile operators to stay competitive and to realize the full potential of 5G to transform many industries,” said Francesco Grilli, vice president of product management, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. “Japan is at the forefront in deploying the most advanced 5G technologies such as mmWave, and we are honored by working with SoftBank to bring the fastest mobile experiences to Japanese consumers and businesses.”
“SoftBank is pleased to collaborate with Qualcomm Technologies and use its leading 5G mmWave technology to offer world-class 5G service to our subscribers,” said Keigo Sugano, senior vice president, head of product division, SoftBank Corp. “We look forward to continuing our long-standing collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies to support Japan’s growth and leadership using the most advanced wireless innovations.”
The announcement was made on Qualcomm’s part in an effort to map the trajectory of its upcoming endeavors. On the other hand, SoftBank has also commercially launched the 5G Sub-6 GHz service for smartphones which run on Snapdragon 5G Mobile Platforms way back in March 2020. Commercially launching the 5G mmWave, will certainly give momentum to SoftBank’s 5G network.
