Sony Interactive Entertainment announced today that it has sold nearly 600,000 units of the PlayStation VR2 in the first six weeks of its release. This is disclosed by Jim Ryan, CEO and Sony Interactive Entertainment President in a new Game & Network Services Segment presentation. With this number, the PlayStation VR2 sold 8% higher than the PlayStation VR1 when it was also released.

Earlier this year, in February, the gaming giant officially released the PlayStation VR2 globally at a starting price of $559. The PlayStation VR 2 is a VR headset that is making VR gaming grow. The colours are vibrant, the blacks are intense, and the image is clear and sharp. The VR controls are top-notch, and the VR headset is simple to use. There is a huge potential with VR games like Horizon Call of the Mountain that was previously reserved for PC VR.

PlayStation VR2 Suppasses PlayStation VR1

Nearly 600,000 units had been sold as of April of this year, surpassing the volume of sales of PlayStation VR1 during the same period, this is according to the PPT slides of Sony’s internal meeting that have been making the rounds in the community. Sony PlayStation VR2 sales to date may be 335.4 million US dollars, according to 559 Calculated in US Dollars.

The PPT also affirmed that titles including Behemoth, Beat Saber, Jungle Hell, Resident Evil 4, and Ghostbusters will be coming to PlayStation VR2. This demonstrates that there will be more titles available on PlayStation VR2.

Throughout its existence, the PS VR1 sold more than 5 million units, and according to Sony’s chief financial officer, the PlayStation VR2 has a decent chance of outselling that figure. Six weeks after its release, sales of the PlayStation VR2 were up 8% from those of the original PlayStation VR.

The PlayStation VR1 sold 5 million copies by the end of 2019, according to Hiroki Toki, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Sony. Sales of this VR device are anticipated to surpass those of the previous generation. Before this, Jim Ryan, president of Sony Interactive Entertainment, stated that it was too soon to assess PlayStation VR2’s performance.
