Sony will launch the second major PS5 system software update on September 16. The official blogpost of Sony announcing the same reads, “The update includes a variety of enhancements to the PS5 console experience as well as 3D audio support for built-in TV speakers. It also features M.2 SSD storage expansion, which enables PS5 players to store and play PS5 games, PS4 games, and media apps directly from the expanded high-speed storage.”

One of the major new inclusion is the ability to customize the Control Center as the user chooses fit. The Game Library, too will receive a new feature. If the user possesses both the PS4 and the PS5 versions of the same game, those games will appear under the “Installed” tab inside the Game Library and on the Home Screen. By pressing ‘PS+ Triangle buttons,’ the users can now pause or resume the Screen Reader, which can read anything displayed across the screen.

The players now will have control over the resolution, in that the PlayStation Now owners can adjust the resolution by choosing either the 720p or the 1080p definition (depending on its availability in the game they are playing). The update will also include a new streaming connection test which enables the players to identify and troubleshoot any problems they might have with their connection.

The new update also adds a new feature called “Automatic capture of personal best videos”. If a player beats their own record, a video clip of the action will be recorded automatically. The captured video will be stored in the Media Gallery.

The blog post also mentions, “The PS5 September Update adds support for players to experience 3D audio through their built-in TV speakers.” This feature was available to the players already but its function was limited to headsets only. This feature comes with the ability to transform standard two-channel TV speaker audio into 3D audio.

One of the best features that will be available to the players after the update is that the players can now expand their storage capacity with an M.2 SSD. Moreover, the players can choose to play games (PS4 or PS5) directly from the M.2 SSD.

Anyone who can access the M.2 SSD must ensure that their NVMe SSD meets the minimum criteria. After the installation is complete, the players can choose to transfer the game folder to the M.2 SSD. This will ensure that players can minimize the time spent on data transfer to focus on their gaming. However, a few sources have mentioned that some games are still experiencing lag, and the gameplay is not as smooth as was expected. But surely Sony will fix this issue as soon as they take notice of this problem.
