Today, the Japanese multinational conglomerate company, Sony Group, has officially released the 2021 fiscal year consolidated financial results, which ended on March 31, 2022.
The result released by the Japanese company shows that the company recorded a 10 percent sales increase in the just-concluded fiscal year, 2021 compared to the 2020 fiscal year.
According to the company, it recorded a total sale of 9,921.5 yen in the 2021 fiscal year, as against 8,998.7 yen for the 2020 fiscal year. This demonstrated a +922.9 bln yen, which is equivalent to a 10 percent increase.
For the operating income, the company records a 26% increase of 1,202.3 yen in the just-concluded fiscal year compared to 955.3 yen in the last fiscal year. While the income before income taxes registered a 12% increase of 1,117.5 yen to 998.0 yen in FY2021 and FY2020 respectively.
However, on the contrary, the company noted that it records a 14% decrease in the net income attributable to the corporation’s stockholders. According to the report, it records 1,029.6 yen in FY2020 while 882.2 yen in FY2021, implying a -147.4 bln yen of 14% decrease.
In explaining the consolidated financial results, the company further classified the sales and operating income per product. For gaming and network services records sales of 2,739.8 yen in FY2021 and 2,656.3 ye FY2020.
For music products, the company registered a total sum of 210.9 yen and 184.8 yen for operating income in FY2021 and FY2020 respectively, and 1,116.9 yen to 939.9 yen sales. While for the electronics products and solutions, it makes sales of 2,339.2 yen in FY2021 and 2,068.1 yen for FY2020 of 212.9 yen and 127.9 yen operating income.
Consequently, for the imaging and sensing solutions, the Japanese tech giant records 1,076.4 yen and 1,012.5 sales and 155.6 yen and 145.9 yen operating income in the FY2021 and FY2020 respectively.
