Sony launched Sony Xperia 1 in June 2019 but it looks like the company or the professionals were not satisfied with how the smartphone turned out to be. Sony realized that they could offer a revamped version of the same smartphone with a bit of change here and there and a few upgraded tweaks.

Thereby, Sony has decided to offer a revised edition of the previously launched Sony Xperia 1. Sony is calling the new modified smartphone the Xperia 1 Professional Edition. The new smartphone will have a few changes added to its display, camera. Furthermore, the support for the LAN connection is modified with the use of the Type-C port.

Sony Xperia 1 features a 4K OLED panel that supported the 21:9 aspect ratio. The revamped smartphone will have the same features in the display screen but will have the added support for a 10-bit signal and a better-calibrated display based on the viewing setting for the company’s Master series reference monitor line with an Illuminant D65 color profile.

Sony is also adding the Imaging Edge Mobile app which uses UPI to transfer images and videos from Sony cameras to the phone wirelessly. Apart from the UPI, a new Transfer and Tagging add-on is added which, as the name suggests, lets photographers tag a photo and add voice captions to it.

The major change has to be the added support for Ethernet connectivity via the Type-C port. The support is what Sony added to the smartphone but the required adapter is not added in the box. The home screen will now support landscape mode. However. this support will be added to the regular Xperia 1 with a future software update.

The smartphone remains the same under the hood. The smartphone will run on the Snapdragon 855 and will feature 6GB RAM with 128 GB storage. The battery remains the same with 3,330 mAh cell.

The Xperia 1 Professional Edition is priced at $1,320 and will go on sale on October 25, 2019, in Japan.
