Sony expands the 1000X headphone family by adding the next-generation WF-1000XM3 wireless model. Sony’s noise elimination technology is enhanced by the HD QN1e Noise Canceling processor and Dual Noise Sensor technology.

Instead of WH-1000XM3, however, this model is called WF-1000XM3, whereby noise suppression also takes place here. Sony has installed a dual noise sensor technology, which also found in the WH model. With the QN1e processor, ambient noise is detected and suppressed.

The new True Wireless headphones from Sony not only have almost the same name as the model on-ear but also the same dual sensor technology for noise reduction of the large model.

The headphone processor is called QN1e and emits 24-bit audio signals. In addition to the DAC, an analog amplifier is also available to improve the sound significantly. The HX digital sound enhancement Engine (DSEE HX) is responsible for making the most of compressed digital music files used by most broadcast providers. According to the manufacturer, Sony True Wireless headphones have a frequency response of 20 to 20000 Hz, and sampling via Bluetooth occurs at 44.1 kHz.

The battery life of the headphones usually depends on several factors, such as the type of music, the volume, the distance between the two Bluetooth devices and the suppression of noise. If this function is enabled, Sony promises a 6-hour battery life on a single charge. The case can fully charge your internal headphones three times, for a total of 24 hours of musical entertainment. Without ANC, the duration will be longer. The case has an integrated NFC chip and is charged via USB-C.

For convenience, you can activate the Quick Attention function and communicate without having to remove the earphones. Place your finger on the touch panel of the left earpiece to quickly lower the audio volume and hear outside noises again, to order something to drink or listen to an announcement.

Thanks to the customizable touch sensors of the earphones, simple touches are enough to play a song, pause it, skip it, or activate the voice assistant. Besides, the new Wearing Detection function automatically pauses the song if you remove one of the earphones and resume playback when you reinsert it. The Sony WF-1000XM3 will be available from August in black and silver, but – like the Powerbeats Pro – also a decent price of 249 euros.
