Sony left many users disheartened when they did not launch any flagship device at CES 2018. To make up for the lack, the company might launch Sony Xperia XZ2 Pro alongside Sony Xperia XZ2 at MWC, 2018. The report owes its origin to a screenshot of an HTML benchmark test that shows the device carrying the model number ‘Sony H8166’.
The XZ2 Pro will have a 5.7-inch 4K OLED display, which might make it a first of its kind. The screenshot reveals that LG has supplied Sony with the 4K OLED displays. The display will support an aspect ratio of 18:9, meaning that it will have a resolution of 3840×1920 pixels.
The device is expected to run on Android Oreo 8.1, an updated version of Oreo out-of-the-box. XZ2 Pro will be powered by Snapdragon 845 chipset and have 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. A 12-megapixel rear camera setup will be sported by the phone, while it will also be equipped with a 3.5 mm audio jack. Liquid black, liquid silver, dark green are the three color options made available for the phone, which is expected to be priced at around 699 Euros.
For its part, the XZ2 will have a bezel-less design, sport a 4K display, and be powered by Snapdragon 845. Sony’s outgoing CEO, Kaz Hirai, has recently confirmed that the company is not planning on dropping out of the smartphone business yet. Its upcoming devices might allow wireless charging and have metal and glass design similar to Apple iPhones.
