Falcon 9 of SpaceX was launched yesterday from the Vandenberg Air Force Base in northern California. It wasn’t pre-announced and left the Californians bewildered as they came across a bright ray of light over the U.S. state.

The surprise led to several speculations that it could be a UFO. It started off as a red light which seemed to be an unusually colored star. It soon became a small white streak of light in the clear sky, and then turned to be a beaming streak that looked like it could come from a rocket. The Los Angeles Fire Department issued an alert revealing that the mysterious light was from SpaceX rocket, Falcon 9’s launch.

The exact time of launch was 9 pm GMT on Friday, that’s December 22. The rocket successfully propelled around 10 satellites within an hour. It was 5.30pm in the local and during sunset.

Californians were stunned to experience it, with celebrities like Tony Hawk and Billy Ray Cyrus and more joining other users on the social media asking about a the-then mystery. Humorously, Elon Musk posted a video of the rocket in the sky, saying “Nuclear alien UFO from North Korea.”

A video of the SpaceX rocket streaming over southern California was taken by Danny Sullivan, Google’s public liaison for search. Within half an hour, the video gained over 30,000 views. According to SpaceX, the launch was for the communications firm Iridium, being a part of one of the major tech upgrades in history.
