J.K. Rowling along with the Wizarding world she created made a very special announcement today. As part of Harry Potter At Home initiative, Spotify will bring home the weekly recordings of the first Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s/Philosopher’s Stone.
The recordings will be available on Spotify, Spotify Kids, and the website harrypotterathome.com. The Harry Potter At Home initiative aims to provide entertainment and learning to children, parents, and all the caregivers during the COCIVD-19 lockdown.
“Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” was the first book in the Harry Potter series to be published. It was published in 1997 in the UK by Bloomsbury. Soon after, the book was published in the US by Scholastic Corporation under the title “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”.
The recordings will be voiced by famous actors, sportsperson, and beloved characters from the Wizarding World. Daniel Radcliffe, a very obvious choice, will narrate the legendary first chapter, “The Boy Who Lived”.
Following the Harry Potter star, the following stars and many more will lend their voices to the weekly readings of the seminal book: David Beckham, Stephen Fry, Dakota Fanning, Claudia Kim, Eddie Redmayne, Noma Dumezweni.
Daniel Radcliffe will read Chapter One today. The reading-recordings of all the 17 chapters will be released by mid-summer.
Spotify will provide the audio chapters for both its free and Premium users. Also, it will provide the same on the Spotify Kids app, a new standalone app that’s exclusively available to Premium Family subscribers. Spotify Kids is limited to a few select markets. The website harrypotterathome.com will host the video recordings.
