Spotify is one of the most popular music streaming app available now worldwide for Android users. With their specially curated playlist for individual listeners, Spotify app rose to popularity in no time. Just months after launching Spotify India, today the firm announces Spotify Lite for Android, a lighter, smaller version of the music streaming app.
The Spotify app is mainly compatible with the up-to-date or the latest smartphones which are able to accommodate its various features. The new Spotify Lite is made for older devices and operating systems. The Spotify Lite will work exactly like the older Spotify app, that is, users will be able to search and play the songs they are looking for or listen to new artists and share with others, but it will come with a few extra features to work with the older devices and operating systems.
Kalle Persson, the Senior Product Manager at Spotify, said, “Spotify Lite was built from the ground up based on user feedback from around the world, allowing millions more to enjoy the world’s best music experience – especially in areas with limited bandwidth and phone storage.”
Lite can be downloaded either separately or used alongside with the main Spotify app. Spotify Lite will be available on all Android smartphones of version 4.3 or above and is available for both free and Premium users. The app would not take up much storage on the phone as it is only 10 MB in size. The Spotify Lite will also come with the ability to set a data limit so that when a user reaches their set limit, they will get a notification. This way, they will be able to set a lot of data on their devices. It will also hold the capacity to clear the cache if and when the need arises.
Spotify Lite is available in 36 markets across Asia, including Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Peru, Chile, Colombia, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Uruguay, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Algeria, Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia, Oman, Jordan, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, South Africa, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, and India, and Latin America, Middle East and Africa on Google Play.
