Spotify now proves that it is not just for music lovers and that it’s got a lot more to offer than good tunes. You’ve got a different taste as well, as you can now stream audiobooks, radio dramas, language lessons, famous speeches, and more for free. Platforms like Spotify make it possible for not only music but also meditation, poetry, and audiobooks that can have access to a bunch of listeners and vice-versa.

Plugging in with the correct tune is an easy and free way to relax, but this is not where Spotify wants to end. The company has come up with a sundry catalog under ‘word’ ensuring several things from poetry to guided meditation, audiobooks, and short stories.

Meditation can be challenging to get into at first, but guided meditation tracks can help you relax and focus. There’s a huge variety of meditation guides that one can choose as well as providing helpful mantras that will help to center on.

The Word genre contains a decent and diverse catalog that shuffles through history. There is mythology, poetry, along with audio courses in Spanish, Italian, French, and Chinese. Now that’s quite impressive!

However, it’s worth mentioning that the free tier of Spotify allows on-demand, ad-supported listening on your computer or tablet but shuffle-only on your smartphone. This means audiobooks are probably not ideal for smartphone listening if you don’t have a Spotify Premium account.

Also, CEO Kerry Trainor on Tuesday (Feb. 19) unveiled a new feature allowing creators to distribute their music directly to all primary streaming services, including Spotify and other platforms. The tool does not come baked into SoundCloud Pro and Pro Unlimited subscription accounts for artists that will pass through 100 percent of earnings from those platforms back to the creator, meaning SoundCloud takes no additional cut, nor will they be charging additional distribution fees.
