While everyone is wondering of Xiaomi’s Mimoji SwiftKey launches its version of emoji called Puppets, as the animal world clearly inspires it into its mobile keyboard app. SwiftKey is embedding some new animated emoji sticker with the Microsoft-owned company hence leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to replicate a person’s partial facial expressions inside a 3D animal character.
With Swiftkey users will be able to impersonate a panda, a cat, a dog, an owl or a cute dinosaur, which will mimic their facial expressions. To create this new feature, it has tapped numerous images and videos from volunteers to train a deep neural network that can identify each person’s expressions and movements in real-time.
SwiftKey recommends using Puppets in a well-lit room and that they only work with one person at a time. Once you have selected your totem animal, you can also record a short video message for not more than 30 seconds and send it via any messaging app you have.
keyboard apps are one of the most-used apps on any mobile phone so the feature to capture a personalized video message from inside SwiftKey app will likely be a welcome addition with more fun and entertainment.
Reports claim that Microsoft acquired SwiftKey for $250 million more than three years ago, and it has since embedded several new features to the app. The keyboard is notable for its extensibility, with users able to customize and add features. The rollout of this novelty will take place during the day.
