Originally planned for release sometime this spring, Techland explained more time was needed to “deliver an experience that lives up to our own high standards and the expectations of you, our fans.” Techland just announced that Dying Light 2 had been delayed.
Originally slated to release sometime in Spring 2020, the game no longer has a release window. In the announcement, Techland states the team needs more development time to fulfill its vision for the game, and the company will be sharing more in the coming months.
The statement from Techland did not offer a new time frame for Dying Light 2’s launch, with Marchewka saying instead that the company “will have more details to share in the coming months.” The studio previously said that it has always planned to make Dying Light 2 a cross-generation game; it is currently in development on PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One.
Techland has already confirmed that Dying Light 2 will be released on both PS5 and Xbox Series X, but this delay could point to the team focusing on next-gen development rather than current consoles. Unfortunately, there’s no new release window yet, so we’ll have to wait to find out when we can start putting the undead back in the ground.
