Today, the freeware, cross-platform, cloud-based instant messaging company, Telegram, has announced the release of a new update to their messaging apps, which includes a few new features.
These include improved scrolling via shared material, join requests for Groups and Channels, invite links, and global chat themes for iOS, among other things. Scrolling through a large amount of shared media in a Telegram discussion can take a long time.
Telegram has added a new date bar to the side of the screen to make things easier, and users can also use a pinch gesture to zoom out for smaller thumbnails.
A calendar mode also allows you to rapidly see material from a specific day.
Admins can now use a Request Admin Approval setting when adding additional invite links for a conversation to have more control over who can join and see the chat.
These invite URLs can also be renamed to anything else to make them stand out.
There are a number of iOS-specific updates as well. Chat themes, each with its own Day and Night mode, colorful animation background, and gradient message bubbles, can now be applied globally to the app.
Telegram will provide a small message box with transit times when locations are exchanged. If you typed a message before sending the media, that message will be used as the caption for that media.
Finally, like with every update, new interactive emoji with full-screen effects have been included.
Telegram is a cloud-based instant messaging system that is freeware and cross-platform. Founded on 14 August 2013 for iOS and in October 2013 for Android with end-to-end encrypted video calling, VoIP, file sharing, and other functions are also available.
