Tesla bought 2100 acre land in Texas to build its new super plant

On Aug. 10, The electric car maker, Tesla has been reported to pay nearly $100 million for buying a 2100 acre land in Austin, Texas to build its next super plant. Tesla’s Texas super plant has already begun construction, and recruitment has also started. This is going to be its largest auto assembly plant with a $1.1 billion investment from Tesla.

According to The Associated Press, the plant will employ at least 5,000 people with a minimum wage of $15 per hour. According to the official website, the company is now recruiting people mainly for jobs related to plant construction, like building safety managers, building safety experts, structural engineers, construction leaders, and so on.

Last month, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has been reported to say that Tesla’s next super plant would be in Austin, Texas. This plant is its fifth one after the Nevada super factory, the New York super factory, the Shanghai super factory, and the Berlin super plant. Musk described this new gigafactory as “an ecological paradise” on the Colorado River, which will be opened to the public.

The site will be used to build Tesla’s new Cybertruck pickup and the Model Y small SUV for customers on the East Coast. According to Tesla’s website, Cybertruck production will begin in late 2021.

This land of 2,100 acres is the largest property of the company so far. It is nearly 5 minutes from Austin Airport and about 15 minutes from downtown Austin. The original owner of the land was TXI Operations LP, a subsidiary of Martin Marietta. TXI Operations LP revealed that it sold the land for $97 million.
