TikTok is a popular social media network known to be using artificial intelligence. And now, it’s parent company ByteDance has emerged as a leader in the procurement of AI servers with a 6.2 percent market share.
AI plays a major role in TikTok’s new features like the very much popular “Bold Glamour” filter. It requires a significant amount of processing – some of which is done on the smartphone and some on TikTok’s own servers.
Survey
According to TrendForce, a research analyst firm, about 200,000 AI servers will be shipped to cloud service providers (CSP) by the end of 2026. This figure will be up from about 125,000 for 2022. A survey by TrendForce expects shipments of AI servers, in 2023, to grow by 8 percent thanks to chatbots and similar applications generating demand across AI-related fields. It forecasted shipments of AI servers to increase at a CAGR of 10.8 percent from 2022 to 2026.
Besides ByteDance, other Chinese companies – the share of Tencent, Alibaba and Baidu in the AI server procurement market touched 2.3 percent, 1.5 percent and 1.5 percent, respectively. The survey also revealed that in the market for server GPUs used in AI-related computing. The mainstream products include the H100, A100, and A800 from NVIDIA and the MI250 and MI250X series from AMD
TikTok Holds AI Dear
TikTok uses AI-based, the best-in-class, recommendation algorithm to drive user engagement. The algorithm is said to be better than YouTube and Instagram. Moreover, TikTok’s AI tracks each and every behavior as users watch the recommended video.
The app uses the information to map the user’s personality; highlighting emotions such as sadness, happiness and apprehension, as well as other interests and hobbies. TikTok also uses artificial intelligence to enhance the user experience of its consumers and creators.
