TikTok has introduced the beta version of the Creativity Program, a revamped creator fund. It is designed to generate higher revenue and unlock more opportunities for creators. Currently, the Creativity Program is available to select creators.
The short-form video company has not revealed specifics about the funding for the program. It has not highlighted the number of followers or views creators need to be eligible for the program. But users need to be 18 years old and have an account in good standing to be eligible for the program.
TikTok developed the new program based on feedback from creators on its current earning opportunities. It should be noted that the Creator Fund, which rewards creators for popular videos, launched in 2020 with $1 billion over three year period. However, its model has been criticized by creators for low payouts. Now, TikTok has acknowledged these issues and launched the new program – Creativity Program.
A spokesperson for TikTok said the platform has reworked its formula to offer a higher average gross revenue for qualified video views with the new program. But it hasn’t said what the payments would look like for the creators. It can be outlined through a previous report that the minimum requirement is 100,000 followers.
And to start earning, creators will need to create high-quality, original videos that are longer than one minute. The platform’s current Creator Fund does not require videos to be longer than one minute to be eligible for payment. And TikTok expanded its maximum video length, in 2022, from three minutes to 10 minutes.
Creators will be rewarded for posting longer content. They will get access to an updated dashboard with more insights into estimated revenue, video performance metrics and analytics, and eligibility requirements. TikTok said the new program will help creators foster their creativity, generate higher revenue and unlock more exciting, real-world opportunities.
The Creativity Program (beta) is the latest addition to TikTok’s range of monetization tools that support creators of all levels in being rewarded.
