In a bid to improve subscriptions via its platform, the popular instant messaging service, TikTok has revealed that it has set May 26th to unveil new TikTok Live Subscriptions featuring exclusive emojis, chat tools, badges and many more fascinating features.

Recall that towards the end of last year, the popular instant messaging service was reported to be testing new features for users to tip their favorite authors with a minimum tip of $1.

Now, the social media platform has officially announced via its Live Creator page that a live subscription with fascinating features will be rolled out come on May 26 this month.

“LIVE Subscription is an extension of our efforts to build diversified creator monetization opportunities that suit a range of creator needs,” TikTok said in a blog post.

Subscribers will have access to new emotes and badges and a subscriber-only conversation that may be less hectic than the public comment streams beneath popular producers’ broadcasts.

From the perspective of creators, it also represents the possibility of additional cash streams aside from sponsorships and promotions, which is a welcome addition considering TikTok’s massive popularity. YouTube, Instagram, and Snapchat, among other big video-focused social networks, have already introduced revenue-sharing schemes.

The update comes as TikTok is rumoured to be looking into the possibility of hosting minigames in its app, a move that might let users diversify how they spend their time while scrolling through their For You tab.

Creators must be at least 18 years old to use the LIVE Subscription feature, and consumers must be at least the same age to subscribe, according to TikTok.

Similarly, under a TikTok Pulse program to be rolled out in the United States next month, companies can place their ads next to user content in specific categories and creators will get a cut.

“We will begin exploring our first advertising revenue share program with creators, public figures and media publishers,” the company, a subsidiary of Chinese tech firm ByteDance, said in a statement.

However, it’s unclear what percentage of monthly subscriptions TikTok will keep before passing the money on to creators, but the bundles are expected to start at $4.99 and go up to $24.99. Follow TechGenyz for more latest tech updates.
