Choosing a watch is a difficult task. I used to think I wasn’t a watch type. I never liked watches and I was tired of them again within ten minutes. These days it’s a completely different story and I know exactly what to look out for.

How to choose the best watch?

1. Material of the watch strap

In the beginning, I wore a lot of metal watches, for example, silver watches. I always got it out in no time. I didn’t like it; it felt cold and never stayed in place. Metal watches usually revolve around your wrist and are a lot less sturdy than a watch with a leather strap. When I fitted a beautiful Cluse watch with a leather strap, I was over. Such a watch stays firmly in place and is also finished with suede. This makes it feel super soft and you hardly feel it.

If you are going to choose a watch, especially the luxury one such as Breitling Navitimer, first see what you like best. Do not go directly for the appearance, but first, look at which watch strap suits you best. Perhaps you find the looseness of a metal watch enormously fine, or do you love the robustness of a leather watch strap just like me?

2. The type of watch

When choosing a watch you have the choice between two types of watches: a digital watch and an analog watch. With a digital watch, the time is displayed in numbers. Recently the digital watch has been very up and coming, because of the luxury smartwatches and the trendy Casio watches.

Yet an analog watch is still the most common choice. These are the watches with hands and (Roman) numbers or dashes. If you can’t decide on either, you can choose a hybrid of the two.

3. The style of the watch

When choosing a watch, the style is also very important. When will you wear a watch? Do you mainly wear it at work, in your free time or during exercise? If you want a watch that you can always wear, then it’s best to go for a casual watch. This is a quiet watch, without many decorations and colors, that goes well with every outfit.

With a business watch, you often go for a watch with a thinner watch band and with a watch for sports you can go to a rubber watchband. When you are looking for a watch that you want to wear in your spare time, you can go in all directions, for example, go for a watch with a striking print or color.

4. Functions of the watch

When you start searching for a watch, you probably have certain functions in mind. Of course, the most important thing is time, but you may also want him to indicate the date. Or maybe you want a digital watch with functions to count your steps, to record phone calls, and read messages. Think carefully about this before you purchase a watch, so that you avoid disappointment afterward.

5. Choosing a watch

Another small tip to conclude: when you know exactly what you are looking for, filter these choices once within a webshop. You can do this, for example, on watch.co.uk within the “ladies watch” category. In this way, you keep exactly the watches that suit you well and you can pick the best ones in between.

The time has come: you can make your decision! When you like the watch, the type of watch and the functions appeal to you and the style fits you perfectly, then you have succeeded. Good luck and be careful anytime you choose your watch.
