The United States banned the Chinese company Huawei from supplying any kind of gadgets made by them to the U.S as the U.S government sees the company as a threat to national security. The U.S did not stop at banning Huawei products on their own soil, according to the Wall Street Journal, they are also trying to persuade their allies to ban Huawei products in their countries too.
The U.S is particularly worried about those counties that host U.S military bases, such as Germany, Italy, and Japan. Even though Huawei has denied any sort of intellectual engagement with any government, it is still under U.S government scrutiny and is still treated as a threat to national security.
Huawei is not the only Chinese company which has been banned in the U.S or came under the U.S government scrutiny. U.S officials have reached out to their allied countries where Huawei is already in use and they tried to persuade their allies that Huawei poses a great cyber-security threat.
The United States is not the only country which has banned Huawei products in their country. Australia too has banned Huawei from supplying equipment for a 5G mobile network. To pacify the allied countries, the U.S government is offering financial aid for telecommunication development to the countries which are willing to ban the Chinese made equipment.
U.S had also banned Hong Kong-based ZTE Corp for three months and the ban proved to be a fatal one financially. ZTE’s value has nearly halved this year as a result of the ban. Huawei announced earlier this week that they had signed 22 commercial contracts for 5G networks. Huawei is also looking forward to opening a new information security lab in Germany to win their confidence in their favor. Only time can tell whether Huawei’s endless effort will materialize or not.
